Note from Jen:
I have been horrible at posting their writing, but in my defense, they are reluctant to type on the computer and prefer to write in their journals. It's a struggle I am unwilling to fight too hard about. We will get there. In the meantime, I have gathered a few of their entries over the last few months. These are just a sample of what they have written in the non-fiction realm. Their fiction pieces far outnumber their journal entries, and I will add some of them soon. Here is a sample of some journal entries about our adventures so far. Enjoy!
EVA'S JOURNAL:
9/17/24 VISIT TO PICTURED ROCKS
We went to Pictured Rocks, and we got our first badge! (on this trip)
It was so much fun! We saw a waterfall. The name of the waterfall is: Munising
Falls. We also learned the colors of the sandstone cliffs: Green and Blue are copper
Orange and Red are iron, White is calcium, and Black is manganese!
I highly recommend!!!!!!
Eva’s haiku written at Pictured Rocks
Waterfalls are loud
I like them because they are
Helpful to the earth

9/26/24: Upstate New York
One day or night, me and my mom were playing a camping game. When I laid down, my mom reminded me, “Ya know we can go outside and look at the real stars!” so we went outside and watched Cassiopeia dance across the stars as we found constellations in them. Until the big ol’ grump of a cloud came and covered up the stars. We were frustrated for a few minutes, and then the clouds started to clear up, and we started to see all the constellations again, and we saw Aquarius was bringing a jug full of stars. Orion was fighting with them. But to me Orion is just a robot that wants a hug.

Shenandoah National Park
Dear person who has never seen Shenandoah, go to it now. Pack your bags because your going to Shenandoah National Park! I can tell you three facts: #1 there is a species of salamander that can only live in Shenandoah. #2 Be careful because there are copperhead snakes so stay on the path, unless you want to be bit by one. #3 the Appalachian Trail starts in Georgia and goes aaaaaallll the way to Maine.

Have fun on your trip! :)
I like Shenandoah because of the beautiful views. If you are afraid of heights then it is probably not a good idea to go on the mountains. You can see valleys, woods, maybe if your interested you can look for cryptids, and you can become a junior ranger there!
AELA'S JOURNAL:
Cuyahoga Valley National Park 9/17/2024
I love it there! We did poetry, drew pictures, and did the junior ranger program. I felt like I was in the 1800s because of the old town next to the lake! Sadly, we did not find Grass Man (bigfoot’s cousin). There is a big river that got so polluted it caught on fire! And then they cleaned it up, and now it is as healthy as a horse, and horses could even live there, and we went on a train and got snacks! And I saw LOTS AND LOTS OF TREES!!!!!!!!!!

10/3/24: Vermont

I really liked the Shelburne Museum. We started out in a gift shop and ended in a trolly. It was relly fun, not just the Shelburne museum but this whole trip!
I am feeling kinda home sick but it will pass. I miss my bed. I did not share with Eva and I had a big bed not a small loft!
Now if we are talking about excitement, then I'm excited because we are having 1 month of fun right now. We have a pretty big area. We have a bench with a fire place. Me and eva even have a stage! We also made a big pile of leaves since we are in the forest. It never gets windy so we can leave it overnight.! When we move, we will be in Maine. We will see our aunties but only 3 of them. We have 5! And after that we will be in Boston which is Halloween. I am a witch. Eva is the boogie man from the nightmare before Christmas. Momy is Sallie. Which matches Eva because its the nightmare before Christmas too!

New York
New York: Now today we went to New York City (not really) now we saw the Statue of Liberty. I would recommend going here to the Statue of Liberty. In case you don’t know, she looks like this…

Facts:
Fact: The torch used to be a lighthouse but now it is gold to reflect the light.
Fact: you can go into the crown!
Fact: The book says July 4 which celebrates the USAs 100th birthday
You can do the junior ranger program and get badges! I like New York because of the energy.
Miss you, Little Ladies! Can’t wait to have some more adventures with you!
Love, Auntie Chris
